  • Kano was active from 1979 to 1984.

  • "I'm Ready," Kano's première single and international hit of 1980, combined components of 1970s funk, disco, and R&B while also using synthesizers percussive handclaps and raw-processed and vocoder-ized vocals. It topped off at the 21st spot on the U.S. Black Singles chart.

  • "I'm Ready" was also sampled on numerous songs, such as Gigolo Tony's 1986 hit "Hoki Poki" and Rofo's 1983 hit "Flashlight on a Disconight." The most well-known use of it is on Tag Team's 1993 "Whoomp! (There It Is)."

  • "Ahjia," "Now Baby Now," and "Cosmic Voyager" are hits from their self-titled album.

  • "It's a War" and "Ahjia" peaked at the number 2 spot on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart and stayed there for five weeks.

  • They recorded two additional albums, including 1981's New York Cake and 1983's Another Life. Both of these albums introduced Kano listeners to West Indian-born singer Glen White.

  • Their last song was 1985's "This Is the Night."
